Jakarta - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) through the Directorate General of Research and Development (Ditjen Risbang) conducted a preparatory meeting for the Indonesian Science and Technology Convention (KSTI) on National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) 2025 in August, Monday (7/7).

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto emphasized the importance of organizing KSTI as a momentum for the awakening of science and technology and to bring together researchers, industry, and government in promoting technology downstream.

"The government wants to appreciate and provide provisions for researchers. It is hoped that basic research works as well as those that have been downstream can be exhibited," Minister Brian explained when providing guidance.

The Secretary General (Sesjen) of Kemdiktisaintek, Togar Mangihut Simatupang conveyed concrete steps to implement Minister Brian's encouragement. Secretary General Togar emphasized the completion of KSTI planning.

"The basic concept that has been made can be detailed again according to Minister Brian's guidance. We will immediately discuss the assignment of the implementation team, as well as cooperation with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) regarding administrative needs," Secretary General Togar explained.

Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) was chosen to host KSTI this year. The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology also encouraged effective and efficient collaboration between Kemdiktisaintek and ITB to maximize the implementation of the event. This was agreed upon by ITB Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Lavi Rizki Zuhal.

"Technical matters must be collaborated together," said Vice Rector Lavi.

The Director General of Research and Development (Dirjen Risbang), Fauzan Adziman as Chairman of the KSTI Organizing Committee together with Badri Munir Sukoco as Vice Chairman of the KSTI Organizing Committee explained that this activity emphasizes the concept of pentahelix collaboration, which consists of government, society, universities, industry, and media.

"It is hoped that all five pentahelix components can collaborate and be present, so that the discussions that occur will be much more intense," said Badri.

Director General Fauzan closed the report on KSTI planning progress by inviting all stakeholders to work together to ensure that this Convention produces concrete steps that support the acceleration of research and innovation downstream in Indonesia.

"I think this has become a very good initial catalyst to emphasize that science and technology must become a node in economic growth," concluded Director General Fauzan.

Also attending this online meeting were Director of Institutional Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti), Mukhamad Najib, ITB Vice Rector for Communication, Partnership, Alumni, and Administration, Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, and Director of Research Facilitation LPDP, Ayom Widipaminto.
